We spent part of the afternoon looking at the exhibits and watching videos at the visitor center.
The boys had fun watching the Book of Mormon stories on the TVs at each of the exhibits.
This is as close as we got to meeting President Monson on this trip to temple square. Talan is always disappointed that we didn't get to see him.
Not only are they brothers but they are friends too.
Next stop was the Trax station, we had no idea what to do. (Those dumb country folks) I finally had to ask a guy what to do and which train to get on.
On first Trax Train ride.

The big boy is having as much fun as the little boys.
The planetarium was electrifying!

The chalk art festival was so fun. Some people have such talent.
We were lucky enough to run into the Pierces, Miners and the Goldings. Talan was excited to see all his friends.
Jackson, Talan and Nathan.
Talan was so excited to see Bumblebee the Transformer at the Chalk Festival.
Talan was so tired he wanted to take a quick nap while waiting for the Trax Train.
Our Salt Lake City adventure was not a planned event, it was actually a consequence of a very bad morning. All summer all Talan has wanted to do is to go to the Hogle Zoo, so we decided that Saturday would be the day. We drove up to Salt Lake and when we reached the zoo we noticed that the bottom parking lot was full and people were parking on the street. We decided to drive up to the upper lot and see if we could park up there. That was full also as well as all the side streets. Jason and I didn't want to fight the crowds and knew that the kids would be miserable. After lots of tears from Talan, we decided to go get lunch at City Creek and see if there was anything going on down town. We had lunch at City Creek and then explored all the shops and outdoor water features. Talan saw the temple and wanted to walk around the grounds. We enjoyed the shade of all the large trees and the beauty of the flowers around the grounds. We also stopped in the visitor center to see the Christis and look and all the exhibits. After exploring the grounds we remembered that the Chalk Festival was going on at the Gateway, so we jumped on the Trax Train and headed down to the Gateway. The Trax stop was right in front of the Planetarium so we went in and played with the exhibits. We walked on the moon, played with clouds and even touched the electric ball. After our fill of outer space we went outside and walked down to the Chalk Festival. As we were wandering around the festival we ran into the Pierces, Goldings and the Miners. Talan was so excited to run into his friends. We spent some time the rest of the afternoon walking through the festival with them and the kids cooled off playing in the splash pad. Finally by late afternoon the kids and parents were exhausted so we started home. It was great that our awful morning turned into an unplanned adventure.
