San Diego Zoo

On day 3 we decided to hit the world famous San Diego zoo.

The zoo is so big we had no idea where to start and everyone wanted to see something different.

So we consulted the giant map to see what our best route would be.

 

We decided to start off with the bus tour you can see 70% of the zoo in about an hour. Works for me.

 

Of course the boys wanted to sit on top of the double decker bus, but we chose to sit on the wrong side and all the animals were on the other side of the bus. Oh well.

We had to stop and get our smashed pennies.

October was the perfect time to visit the zoo it was cool and all the animals were out and active.

With such small crowds at the zoo the boys got to have turns doing all the interactive exhibits.

This elephant had huge tusks. It was fun to watch because her trainer was out and trying to get her to go into the barn so that the Dr could examine her. You would have to have a lot of patients to work with elephants.

For some reason Lincoln wanted his photo taken with this bird.

 

He also wouldn't leave until we took his photo with him looking through this guys legs. We were laughing so hard, he is such a character.

This zoo staffer told us all about dinosaurs and even let Talan give the giant fossil hand a high five.

 

 We had to make many stops while Lincoln jumped off things. This kid loves to climb up on things and jump off.

I didn't think any other kids would get a turn in it because Lincoln was not getting out.

The temperatures were so cool that this cougar was up and sitting at the front of his cage people watching.

 

They were walking this wolf right down the sidewalks of the zoo.

 

The boys were pretty excited when they found out the wolf's name was Koda.

We had so much fun at the zoo. The temperature was just right and there were very few people. All of the animals were active and it was fun to watch them actually do something. Our families favorite was the gorillas, they put on quite a show. The little one kept teasing all the adults and it was so fun to watch. I would say that it was the best zoo experience I have had.

Sea World

Our first full day in San Diego was spent at Seaworld. The weather was perfect and the boys enjoyed seeing all the sea life.

October must be their slow time because all the kids were free and there were very few people in the park. Jason of course liked the Breaded Dragon. I think it made him miss Dober a little bit.

Lincoln was even brave enough to pet it, Talan was hiding behind some bushes.

This was the discovery area of SeaWorld, you could touch anything you wanted in this tank.

We were the only ones at the tank for a long time so we got our own Marine Life Lesson from one of the friendly Sea World worker.

Lincoln liked these brightly colored frogs. I hope he never finds one because they are poisonous.

 

Talan decided to be brave and go on the simulated helicopter ride. I think at this point he was re-thinking his decision.

We were sitting in the splash zone, but we managed to stay dry.

It is so amazing that those whales can get so high in the air.

It was a lot of fun to ride out over the bay and see all of Sea World from above.

I finally talked Talan into feeding the seals, however when he saw that they ate fish he was out.

The scariest part was trying to not get attacked by the birds while feeding the seals.

He was hungry and did not want to wait.

 

Lincoln loves popcorn and almost ate this whole bag by himself.

I was determined to pet the dolphins.

And after a few minutes I finally got to pet one. Dreams do come true!!

Talan hates Stingrays ever since he got a giant kiss from one at the Living Planet aquarium.

We had so much fun at Sea World. It was so nice in October. The lines were all short and we were able to get through the whole park in a day. The kids were able to do all the hands on exhibits and we were even able to talk with a lot of the trainers. Talan said that his favorite part of Sea World was the killer whales and Lincoln keeps barking like the seals so I guess that was his favorite part. I hope we make it back to Sea World soon the kids loved it.
