Farm Country

We went to Thanksgiving Point's Farm Country. We go every year but this is the first year that Talan was brave enough to ride the pony.

Lincoln was not fearful at all. As soon as I sat him on the horse he was shouting Go, Go.

When we stopped at the goat pen, I noticed Lincoln over by the fence giving the goat a kiss.

They had this fun building that showed the process of how our fruits and vegetables get from the garden to the store. First you have to pick your crops. Addy and Talan gathering up their fruits and veggies.

They had these veggie gardens and they also had little trees around that had fruit on them.

After you pick your crops, you put it on the conveyor belt  and it goes in the truck.

Crew decided to take a ride on the tractor.

Our kids ended up in jail. At Thanksgiving Point they have a little town and they kids favorite town building was the jail.

All through the farm they had interactive exhibits. The kids got to see how chickens grow in the egg and see all the baby chicks.

This was a fun activity. The kids tried to pick up buckets of feed for the animals. They had a little bucket for chickens and the buckets got heavier as the animals got bigger.

Every year we take the kids to Farm Country and the kids look forward to going. It is a great place for kids. I think that they learned a lot and had fun doing it. I it so neat to see Talan getting braver as he is getting older. He was proud of himself for riding on the horse. I asked him what his favorite thing was and he said learning how we get our milk. I can't wait to go back again and learn some more new things.

Swimming Lessons

Summer is just about over and today was the last day of swimming lessons. Talan loves to take swimming lessons, it is one of the highlights of summer.

When Talan and Addy took swimming lessons last year we told them if they worked hard and passed level 1 we would get them a trophy. They both were able to past level 1 so they got trophies last year. Now every time we go to the pool we have to stop and look at the trophies and the kids try and pick out which one they want when they pass level 2.

They also are working on diving. Diving is something I hated to do when I was little.

Since it was the last day of swimming lessons the kids got to jump off the spring boards.

Talan was not so sure about jumping off. Finally the teacher had to grab his hand and pull him in. Maybe by next year he will be ready to jump off by himself. Talan has made so much progress this year. I think it is so important for kids to know how to swim and it makes me fell better to know that Talan is learning.

$2 Tuseday's: What a Joke!

Jess and I decided to load up the kids and go to Thanksgiving Point. When we got there it was $2.00 Tuesday and the line for farm country was our the door and going around the building. So we decided we needed a Plan B.

Plan B turned out to be the Bean Museum at BYU. We walked around all the exhibits and did the little activities they have through out the museum.

I think the little boys like the trains.

My favorite thing was this HUGE Kodiak Bear. I would hate to run into him in the forest.

This is Shasta the Liger. I remember seeing Shasta when I was Talan's age. She used to be displayed at the Hogle Zoo.

Next stop was the Paleontaology Museum. It was not very big, but we did get to see a few dino bones.

It is hard to imagine this giant animals roaming the earth.

We had a good afternoon even if it didn't go as planned. All of the kids were well behave even if they had been in the car for almost an hour. We are going to try the Thanksgiving Point outing again because the kids wanted to ride  the horses. Hopefully the line will not be so long.

When we got home Lincoln was so tired he went in our walk-in closet, shut the door and fell asleep.

Our Weekend in Review

I think that this is one of the only weekends this summer that we didn't have anything planned. We woke up Saturday morning with nothing on the agenda. We decided to go to the Spanish Fork Farmers market to see what we could find.

When the market came into view I was a bit disappointed, they only had about 10 booths. We walked around the market and ended up with a few goodies.

 

Volkner's Bakery was there and we got some amazing Artisan bread. Jason was excited about the potatoes from Lake Shore that still had dirt on them. He figured they must be fresh if the dirt hadn't even been washed off. The boys and I fell in love with the peaches that were there, so we got a basket so we could have peach and cream.

After lunch we decided to go find Sandy Beach since neither Jason or I had ever been there. On our way to the beach we found a field with a bunch of buffalo.

 

I wanted a picture with the boys and the buffalo but Linx was asleep and Talan refused to get near them. We drove along the dirt road until it abruptly ended. There was no sandy beach just water. I guess the lake must be to high and has covered the shore. Maybe next year. So we jumped back in the car and headed to Lincoln Beach.

We had never been to Lincoln Beach either so we got out and scouted around.

Of course we had to skip a few stones.

As we walked back to the car Lincoln would wave and say "Bye Rock" to every rock as we past, it was so funny. We had a fun afternoon just visiting some of the local spots.
